Cut off the dead stuff. You're going to need a new central leader. Several of the branches may try to do this. Make sure it is one that is fairly upright already. Prune off any others that are making a run for it.
Remove the tree stakes after it has been in the ground a year. Don't wait longer!

The truck started sputtering pretty bad when idling the last couple days. Tried some fuel injector cleaner, replaced the spark plugs, took some skin off the knuckles, and the truck is relatively happy again. Also learned the manual in the truck is so old the part numbers no longer correlate with retail listings correctly.
