| Saw a fantastic movie with AO tonight. "Finding Vivian Maiers" is about finding over 100,000 negatives taken by this lady and the search for information about her (she worked as a nanny) and also showing some of the pictures -- taken in New York City, Chicago, and France. | As of midday on Friday, the National Weather Service’s Space Weather Prediction Center indicated that level 2, or moderate, geomagnetic storming was underway. Moderate storming means that high-latitude power systems may experience voltage alarms and if the storm lasts for a long period of time, transformer damage may be possible. At this level of intensity, auroras may be visible as far south as Idaho and New York. The strongest part of the storm may be yet to come, though. The weather service says that it may reach a level 3 storm Saturday, which might cause problems with satellite or low-frequency radio navigation systems. | unknown | |
