I participated in an exercise at my annual teaching meeting this summer based on the poem by George Ellis Lyon. I just came across the resulting poem since I'm going to use the exercise in class next week. Here's my poem, dedicated to all of you....

I am from a ready-made wiffleball team, captain of the team.
I am from jokes, laughter, games of every kind, and especially sarcasm.
I am from intellectual challenges and academic competition.
I am from small town among cornfields and soybeans, perogies, and kielbasa.
I am from gardens large that sustain us.
I am from comfort and immersion in immediate family and close friends.

Any chance you have an EPS-35STEP needle? - really have a desire to listen to some Gerry Mulligan and everyone knows the only way to listen to Gerry Mulligan is on Vinyl.
