albuquerque trip in recap: apparently they're famous for green chili peppers. The green chili cheeseburger was great, though I was more intrigued by the general lack of hamburger shape than the chiles. The burger is pounded so flat it flakes off. That was at the Owl Cafe. I did not try the table jukebox to see if it worked, but I think they have the original booths, because I sank back a few decades when I tried to sit down.

The main strip was pretty neat... now I understand the nostalgia for route 66. The whole central ave was miles of sprawling signs in front of stand alone roadside businesses and parking lots. Plenty of large motels smack in the middle of downtown and diners with one long counter running the length of the restaurant. Diners like the kind of place you'd name Milton's, where you'd expect to get your rib-eye pounded flat with southwest seasonings and served with a side of corn and potatoes.

I didn't get to see much other than the drive to and from work, but the hotel I stayed at was pretty nice. It was a renovated railroad hospital. Actually possibly the best-kept hotel I've ever stayed at, though it was odd, as the shape of the room hinted that it had been a hospital room.
