All that tells me is I should have known my audience better. Apparently, I'm talking to mathematicians.

Writers who were not taught logic in school — evidently a great many — will think that 'to beg a question' means 'to give rise to a question.' In that they are like the multitude of writers who have appropriated technical but dimly understood language. A parameter, for example, is 'a constant, with variable values, used as a referent for determining other variables.' If you are a mathematician, that definition from Webster's New World College Dictionary probably means something to you. If you are not a mathematician, you are probably using parameter to mean a boundary or limit or guideline, or perhaps nothing in particular. People do write this way. Some even talk this way. Eventually, loose applications of technical terms to different contexts find their way into the dictionary, some embedding themselves in the language. That is fine. But in the interval, anyone who wishes to write precisely will be cautious.

Yes, she was wearing her new helmet that she won at the school safety week. However, it had not been adjusted properly and it flew off her head as she flew off the bike. I think the poison-ivy was a soft landing because the only thing really hurt was her pride.
Thomas and Veronica went on a 14 mile bike ride yesterday. Guess they had lots of fun.

Begging the question (or petitio principii) is a logical fallacy in which the proposition to be proved is assumed implicitly or explicitly in the premises.
The phrase begging the question, or some variant thereof, is sometimes used to mean "a question that begs to be asked, usually because it is obvious to all." Using the term in this way, although common, is considered incorrect. This incorrect usage is the result of confusion over the translation of petitio principii, which literally translates as "assuming the starting point." However, petitio also means begging; as a result, the phrase "'this begs the question' seems to mean that this begs us - asks us earnestly, entreats us - to raise and consider the question."

That begs the question: What kind of workers rights exist in Russia to begin with? Perhaps, Putin could begin there?
Was Daniela wearing a helmet? Because I had a friend get hit by a car that wasn't wearing a helmet, and that was pretty gross.

Hopefully Daniela will not be experiencing poison ivy after her fall into the ditch. We went bike riding with Aunt Veronica on the Montour Trail yesterday. It was beautiful until that little mishap.

When I bought it from Sarah, she said Eric had purchased it. Note also, the price she charged me was higher than the price Eric purchased it for.
